Today the Episcopal Church remembers Frederick Douglass, who died on this day in 1895. He was the father of liberation theology, in my opinion; and in fact the founder of the Civil Rights Movement in America.

My first Lent (that I’ve taken seriously) is right around the corner. I’ve been meditating on what I want to give up for the season. I thought about fasting, not having meat, abstaining from alcohol, etc. however, I think what would be more beneficial is not using Amazon Prime.

So not only are some Christians cheering on Trump for doing the exact opposite of what Jesus asks us to do, but now they are condemning a bishop for preaching the Gospel. Interesting times.
