On the passing of James Watson

Intellect & morality are distinct; abundance in one doesn’t guarantee the other

His book 'The Double Helix' is engrossing & troubling portrayal of scientific research

Dr Rosalind Franklin died in 1958, 10 years before this misogynistic portrayal

While I love all topics I deliver for the module on language, gender and sexuality, the week on identities outside the western binaries is my favourite! Students get to see how gender/sexuality is much bigger than what we see and how much identity work people did in history and nowadays!

It might not be a coincidence that this question appears in every sample test of the life in the uk test. Or is it?

I am going to teach "the" gender war/s next week in my Language, Gender and Sexuality class and this morning I found this great paper - www.tandfonline.com/doi/epdf/10.... (here in case someone might want to add it too). I am also very butlerian in using a ghost picture in my VLE for that week 👻

In TV interview Italian Foreign Minister Tajani says those protesting for Palestinian rights are "antisemitic daddy's boys attacking the police who are paid a pittance", to which the interviewer replies, "you are the ones who pay them a pittance."
Rare moment for Italian TV. Tajani taken aback.

UK politics completely avoids dealing with the UK HE crisis then stating, in an official statement, "world-beating higher education university sector" in announcing universities will open campuses in India. And let's not even mention colonising put before decolonising.

Somebody asked for my book, but that the part "corpus-assisted research" in the title became "consistent research" and now I am wondering if that was/is a more effective title.

who is going to return all the time that we spend with some empty admin tasks that are not useful to anything or anyone? (rhetorical question)

In my language, gender and sexuality class I have an activity where we talk about our experiences (obviously they are free to share what they want to the extent they want) and one student started: "for example, this morning".

Let's talk about monolingual culture! The expense system my university uses wants me to add the names of the restaurants I had dinner at while in Thessalonki... but all the receipts have the names in GREEK. I am currently using "name in Greek".
