City have a couple lucky goals, but Liverpool’s press and defensive pressure have been atrocious. #LFC have comfortably been second best. #epl-live

Great strike from Paquetá, but how is Pope not catching that cross? #epl-live

It’s hard to imagine he’s become bad overnight, but he’s genuinely been below average this season — aside from a couple special moments. #LFC
up to 700 league minutes and some real worrying signs on Mo Salah

#LFC won 65.8% of their aerial duels last season. Coming into today’s match, they were only winning 55.6% of their aerial duels.

Today? 49%, per FotMob.

Arne Slot said that teams are playing tons of balls in the air against his team. There’s a reason why, bro.

#LFC just getting bullied every match.

Man, as soon as Isak is out, everyone starts talking about how #LFC lack elite attacking depth. Those same folks just couldn’t understand why Liverpool needed Ekitike and Isak. Baffling.

#LFC got to the byline and got the defenders running back toward their own goal, and by god, they created a goal. Who would’ve thought?!

#LFC created five big chances, hit the woodwork a handful of times, and couldn’t hit the target on gifted chances multiple times from about 6-7 yards out. The “low block” didn’t matter.

Guys being wasteful and sloppy was a problem. Giving up roughly the 10th set-piece goal this year was a problem.
A little too Postecoglou from Arne Slot, for my liking:

All goals across the league now are off counters or set pieces. #epl-live

New challenge: LFC needs to hit the target with a shot.

#LFC dominated that second half. Too bad.

The level of Liverpool’s passing has been appalling. #epl-live

Arsenal block, push, and grab on every set piece. It’s their game. Gabriel then throws himself to the ground with the slightest of touches cuz he knows he’s in a bad position, and the whole squad whines. Laughable. #epl-live

#LFC are getting bullied on long balls and set pieces. I sometimes wonder if Liverpool have gotten too physically small for this new counter-and-set-piece style that we’ve seen everyone lean into.

Legit wondering if #LFC got too small this summer. Frimpong, Kerkez, Wirtz, etc. are all so small. Liverpool keep getting bullied on set pieces and floated crosses.

It is *so* hard to create anything via open play in today’s Prem. This is why most teams want to play on the counter. It’s why Arteta has gone for big, meaty lads who can bully teams in a low block. It’s why set pieces are so important now.

LFC are just trying to bash it thru the middle. #epl-live

Palace create chances via long balls and getting to the byline for cutbacks. We’ve… I guess… tried to figure out how to pass the ball to feet near the corner of the box?

Run at someone. Bradley has basically been the only one to do it, and he’s drawn corners—where the Konate chance came from. #LFC

Kerkez keeps getting caught out on backpost crosses. Getting old, fellas. #LFC #epl-live

#LFC had seven “big chances” (via FotMob). Atleti had zero. Naturally, the game ends 3-2 with Liverpool securing another win with a last-gasp goal.

Obviously, Liverpool cannot keep relying on late-match heroics like this. But they—once again—should’ve been way outta sight anyway.

“Liverpool are struggling to break down this compact 5-4-1 shape that Burnley are putting out there, and they’re clearly happy to settle for a nil-nil draw. How can #LFC unpick the lock?”

“They should try harder!”

“They should be more inventive!”

“Excellent analysis. Back to you, Jeff!” #epl-live

Played my wildcard this week for #FPL. Debated between…

Semenyo
Xavi Simons
Haaland

Or

Joao Pedro
Kudus
Salah

Went with the latter. Fml. 👍

Bournemouth remain my favorite non-LFC side to watch. They’re so good, no matter who is playing for them. Need to slot in an 18-year-old CB for his Prem debut? No big deal. #epl-live

VAR can’t work how folks want. Either it forces rules to be rigid and “objective,” which means a bunch of VAR calls are *technically* right but feel wrong (or not in the spirit of the game), or it invites everyone to analyze subjective calls under a microscope and pretend there are “correct” calls.
lol I’m gonna need bluesky’s biggest soccer post ever to balance out all the politics engagement im burying myself under.
