And anywhere in Israel.

I have to remind myself to check in with Bluesky more often - just to read your posts. You were always an island of sanity on that ocean of hate formerly known as Twitter.

I’m happy there is a Jewish state. I’m also happy that Jews have lived in California for generations - without air raid sirens, anti-Jewish terrorist incidents on a regular basis, constant wars, and the largest pogrom since the Holocaust. As Jews, we should all be happy that California exists.

I don’t think Israelis feel safe anymore. Not after 7 October, not after missile attacks from Iran, not after going in and out of bomb shelters for weeks this past year. Not to mention the bitter divide between Haredim and Secularists. Makes life here in California look very peaceful. Yesterday:

By the same token, America is a place Israelis can go to if things go south over there. Many of them have already.

🧵Donald Trump calling Nancy Pelosi “evil” is like the arsonist calling the fire department dangerous.

Nancy Pelosi protected our democracy. Trump tried to steal an election and shatter it.

Pelosi made sure hungry children got fed. Trump is trying to rip food right off their tables by gutting SNAP.

Very admirable, imho.

It’s possible to be “alive” in America right now without feeling absolute horror. Helps to realize that any large country anywhere has had awful things happening, perpetrated by evil people. All human societies are deeply flawed because human beings are deeply flawed.

Good morning, beautiful BlueSky friends. Please read these words. I can’t say them any better. Life is a gift, not a to-do list. Walk slower, hug longer, laugh louder, and love deeper.

They didn't attempt a violent coup because of the left. They aren't destroying US science & academia because of the left. They're not embracing open racism & nazi ideology because of the left.

They are adults, making choices, doing things of their own volition, and they bear the responsibility.

It’s a good way to think.

That’s the way I think. Hummingbirds appearing out of nowhere are another “sign.” When I’m with my brother and/or our cousins, all sorts of manifestations occur, many of them weird “coincidences.”

I urge you to abandon your “zero-sum” calculations in Taiwan-Mainland relations. Continuing the “status quo” that’s been in existence since 1980 is a win for both sides!!

Trump attacking his own base the way he has is rather unprecedented. I’d watch MTG now to get a pulse on things. Quote: "It's definitely a full reversal on what was all said beforehand, and people are just not willing to accept it." abcnews.go.com/Politics/tru...
Why do Trump's MAGA followers care so much about the Epstein files?
Ever since Jeffrey Epstein took his life in a federal jail in 2019, conservative voices have been calling on the federal government to be transparent about its probe.

One common thread: Putin loses again, if it does actually play out that way, which would be wild.

Funding cuts to PBS and NPR, attempts to stop the Wall Street Journal from publishing, Colbert canceled.

Do not take a free press for granted. We need to fight for it.

I’ve always called it “the Fascist Temptation.” A sizable portion of our population can’t resist it.

Exactly the kind of person this country has been welcoming here for generations - until now. What a shame.

Great write-up. As an American baby boomer who wasn’t really aware of pop music until the Beatles hit the scene (I was 9), Connie Francis seemed more like a singer from a bygone era, not a trailblazer and the biggest female recording artist of the 50’s and 60’s! I learned something.
