I got some "cognitive gummies" at the POT STORE and I wasn't expecting much, if anything, though the tender was enthusiastic about them. Actually, they work. I mean they're not saving the whole day or anything, but there's a certain clarity there that I don't often experience. That's very pleasant.

Wow, I'm so glad for Melia. It doesn't feel like a nice time, in a lot of ways, and it's amazing how a nice thing can be so uplifting in the face of so many not-nice things.

Am now queen of shortcrust pastry cause I ain't gonna laminate a DAMN thing. Maybe someday, but not any time soon. Yet. In the future, when I'm good at shortcrust, maybe I'll then go for non-rustic croissants. But for now, RUSTIC ALL THE WAY, BAYBAAAAAAY!

Dinner tonight: cheeseburger pinwheels made with Jamaican beef patty filling, and fried plantains. This was the second or third batch. I used three plantains and had four batches to fry! Whew, but they came out good imo, and soft enough for the elders. Turmeric & curry colored the dough.

Someone tell me why every week for like the past month and a half, dinner has involved me making a dough of some kind? This wasn't a plan; it just turns out every week I make something with dough and then ADHDly go, "Oh yeah I like this. I'll do it again with different dough next week!"

The bus is so quiet. It's always so quiet. I love that. Riding on the bus, with trees lining the shiny-wet highway, the big bird-head wipers ceaselessly battling the rain, and the only noise is soft murmuring and laughter and the rumble of the bus. Also the bus is warm. I love that too.

Freaking out a little bit. My niece is in Nashville and she's had no power for a few days. I'm really worried about her. Like, just super worried. Sheesh. The power might be out for several more days. Seems like they really have a bad problem with trees and power poles breaking right now.

Making elaborately prepared cheap ramen for lunch. I like to get the noodles all floppy, then sauté some mushrooms and capers, cook the noodles until they're...different (can't think of a better term rn), and toss it all together into a delicious meal.

Just made some copycat Suja Ginger Love and I'm just saying, it's delicious. I made a small batch to test but if it is successful, then I'm gonna make a very large batch and idk, put it in something.

Putting a hold for one week on the beef and squash recipe for dinner this week and instead going to do cheeseburger pinwheels with Jamaican beef (with added olives). I'll use turmeric and maybe curry in the dough and I'm trying fried plantains part 2: less super crunchy this time.

It's good that people are fighting the system on behalf of Renee and Alex. They didn't deserve to die. It's frustrating and saddening that it took their deaths and not that of Keith Porter, or any of the Black and Brown people who have been hurt and killed by cops in the previous fucking CENTURIES.

Today I sneezed and somehow this hurt my back. I wasn't leaned or lying down or curled up or anything. I'm pretty cool with aging but this part kind of sucks. This would be unheard of a decade ago!

There's an ambient sound artist who makes these great soundscapes of spaceship sounds or other sci-fi scenery sounds. My favorite is a rainy cyberpunk city. I have the faintest idea what it sounds like bc it's for sleep but I listen so often it's recommended under nearly every single video I watch.

I think he could play Josh Hartnett's dad in a Macgyver revival. Someone get them a paper clip, some bubble gum, and a stick!
Took a break from doing dishes. Lots of emotions today. Plenty lots. Adhd appointment went differently than I was prepared for and I spent several hours in mourning and being hateful about it (the psych was super kind).
But at least I have *a* way forward, should I choose to take it. Guess I will.
