Writers, do you ever fear running out of story ideas? This is one fear I don’t have #writingq #WritingCommunity

I need cheering up. What's something happy in your books?

Dang it, I can't find the appropriate Bluey gif, but the quote is:

"We want romance!"

Happy Friday!! We made it!

If you read or write Fantasy, do you have any preferred subgenres? For example: epic, dark, urban, cozy, etc.

In "Good Boys Don't Howl" all the names were kind of puns of varying success.

Wulf - The bi werewolf. (🙄 Even he can't believe it)
Flint - Bratty gay tease. (He's "rock hard" and breaks easily)
Amanda - Bad phone prank. "I'm looking for A-man-da hug-and-kiss"

What do you think makes a piece of writing timeless? It’s the issues that still exist today, IMO #writingq #WritingCommunity

Virgil is named after Vergilius Maro, the poet that Dante Alighieri uses as his guide through "Inferno"

I misspelled Maro for a few months while drafting and then realized I liked the sound better, so he became and remains "Virgil Mora."

My latest WIP erotica names vary in seriousness.

Mardelon - Aeimquy for "Dream of light." A self-chosen name.

Mim(osa) - Gay fairy. Mimosa Pudica is a "ticklish" plant.

Arden - Let's be honest, I gave the paladin with the vow of chastity the name "harden."

I put the writing down, take a deep breath, & remind myself that "difficult" is just a part of the process 💜 It doesn't mean anything. Maybe I'll take a walk or play with my cat for a while. I'm fine b/c I know no level of difficulty can stop me from trying again. I'll get it eventually! ✨ #WritingQ

ARE YOU KIDDING?
I COME HERE AND YAP AND VENT AND PLAY WRITINGQ GAMES! 😆🤣🥰

But also, I might back off a project and diddle around with another one if I hit a rough spot. Especially if it's characters or a project I like and feel good about.
What something you do to cheer yourself up when the writing is difficult? #WritingPrompt

While I have ideas for years to work with for new projects, I have a different set of problems - I worry when making revisions that I won't be able to think of alternative ideas that work better than what I have. Trying to fix scenes can be more difficult than writing new ones!

The book title drop towards the end where Jasper articulates that summer romances are not real and the lake house is just a utopia. “All of this was great, but none of this was real.” #writingq

Your MC is trapped in a maze with a roof. Do they formulate a method to get through it or do they wing it?

I named my FMC Raven because my character when I was younger had a Raven, and I thought nobody would be able to pronounce my name.

My MMC Trig came from going as far from an Elf name as I could, I also like the Doctor Who episode Power of 3.

I’ve gotten some questions about why the MC in Forged of Ruin is named Ford. After all, many Norzen have names inspired from Scandinavian origin.

Here’s the thing: His full name is Fordar, a portmanteau of Forseti & Vidar, the Norse gods of justice & vengeance, respectively.

I follow the same process I recommend to clients: first, a few rounds of dev. editing (aka. edits focused on structural issues), then a couple rounds of line editing (sentence level stuff, word-choice, etc.), a proofreading pass, and then onto beta readers. Rinse & repeat as needed! #WritingQ
What does the revision process look like to you? What do you cut first? I always cut extra words or unnecessary backstory #writingq #WritingCommunity

I think genre can is a tool to guide readers to what they may like, but I don’t even consider genre boundaries when I write. I tell the story in the most interesting way that I can and then determine what genres it falls in after the fact

What draws you to blur or break genre boundaries? My stories just don’t fit neatly into one genre #writingq #WritingCommunity

scenes that don't do anything for the plot go first. then i do a line edit and find out if there's unnecessary convos or backstory #writingq

I decided on Chloé early on, it just felt right for her.

BUT originally she was Chloé Martin from France. I made her Canadian instead, because I wanted the skating tour to visit her hometown. When I did, I changed her last name to LaFleur as an homage to Guy Lafleur.

I'm not thinking about genre *much* when I'm writing. I'm just trying to follow an arc from start to finish, emphasizing any thematic elements that need emphasizing with the style/elements that feel like they fit best. Mostly, I like "lit fic" b/c it's a broad category. #WritingQ #WritingCommunity
