Do quite like the creativity of it. Having Ammy revert to a statue before it blows up (likely from the damage) is cool, and one could see the black background being a representation of coming darkness.

...That's about all I got in terms of this, though. A cool death-

Funny that the GBC version of this game has my second least favorite of those four game overs, cause this one is probably my favorite of these four, because of Death with a gun (that and also similar feelings to-

Though I would still put it as second weakest, this one ain't bad at all. Game over theme is pretty good (though I think the screen itself is just okay) and I like the deaths here.

Feelings about the same as the NES version, though I prefer the NES version that bit more.

Something I find funny is that despite finding this being the weakest of the four (when we're talking the ports), This is also the one I've got memorized in how to die.
But yeah this one I feel is the weakest of the four, and some pretty meh game overs in general.

- Deja Vu (Apple IIgs) - (Sound Warning)
Nothing much different from the other two PC versions of these games I've covered. though I like the game over screen much more than the NES version. Kind of an example of less being better.
(Also the loud gunshot scared the hell out of me)

The "I'VE GOT YOU" when you die is pretty cool in a spooky kinda way. Otherwise than that, eh, its fine. Though I quite prefer the NES version. The skull isn't as creepy to me as the NES one, plus losing the game over theme kinda hurts.

My feelings on this one are near opposite of those of Shadowgate. As freaky as the skull is, I don't find it as classic and great as Shadowgate, but this has my favorite game over theme when it comes to the four NES/GBC ports of the Macventure games. Gives a sense of-

- Beyond Shadowgate (2024; PC) -

Going back to the original, and nailing it hard. (New) Beyond Shadowgate is probably my favorite when it comes to the game overs of both this series and Macventure in general. It's got some cool deaths, that sick game over screen, and a good theme.

- Shadowgate 64: Trials of the Four Towers -

Back in my younger years of being a reaper, I really didn't care for this one. I thought it was kinda goofy and a step down from what came before it. Now, having come back to it...I still think it's a step down, but I've grown a bit of fondness to it.-

- Beyond Shadowgate (Turbografx CD/PC Engine CD) -

Really love this one (if the game over screen being my PFP didn't give that away), the deaths are interesting (once again I heavily encourage watching a video on them), I think the game over theme is pretty good, and the game over screen just-

Feelings don't change much for this version. Still think it's a good game over, though I kinda prefer the NES version

While it has my least favorite game over theme of the four Macventure games (though i do still like the theme), the screen itself is still an absolute classic, and probably my favorite of the four (in terms of their NES/GBC versions; funny as it is.)
