Bush Heritage Australia are purchasing Avocet Nature Refuge in Queensland! This is one of only two sites where Bridled Nailtail Wallabies still live wild. We're raising $1.4M to help us manage this remnant Brigalow reserve. Can you help us with a donation?

@shaynecalliss.bsky.social Your fab video yesterday prompted me to take this & send to you.The first spike from these two bushes took 18 years to arrive & to date I have had another 3 from both grasses. Then last month 3 spikes arose from the one grass-lots of joy from me & the insects & birds.

Heads up @brittlestar.com
Need some of your star power. ❤️
Friends, can I ask a favour.

Our latest Honest Government out is a serious warning to Canada from Australia, which acts as a cautionary tail about the harms of the gas (LNG) export industry... Hence the cameo (spoiler alert) from our own aussie climate criminals, Woodside Energy

Iconically Australian - a superb photo - so much in it.
13 years ago today, the RFS downgraded the threat level of the devastating week-long Blue Mountains Bushfires.
The Warrimoo Crew, defending the Norman Lindsay Gallery at Faulconbridge, blew off steam in a most spontaneous Australian way.

Another stunning photo.
#BirdOfTheDay theme is #sunlit and this Willet (Tringa semipalmata) in the sunset on a metallic gold Rio del Mar Beach, #California from years ago is 1 of my favourite images I've ever taken.

Fabuloso! 👏🏼
First flying duck (Caleana major - large duck orchid) of the spring near Genoa, East Gippsland, VIC. Only a few scattered plants out in flower here but quite a few more of these very distinctive orchids in bud nearby - despite the recent dry conditions. #orchids #inthefield #ozplants

Stunning, thanks WA Orchids - your photos are wonderful.
Have you ever seen gold on a flower before?

This is the flower of the carnivorous plant Drosera calycina, which has striking deep red petals and sepals that glitter like gold in the afternoon sunlight.

If you hit an Australian passport with UV-A light, the stamp pages change from day to night.

One of them has a nighttime thunderstorm.

It’s really super pretty.

In Japanese culture, the egret is a symbol of tranquillity and enlightenment.

These charming egrets were designed by potter Miyagawa Hanzan in Japan in the early 20th century.

See them on display in Gallery 36 on Level 2.

Yesterday Luna ate part of her meaty beef bone & whilst I ducked inside to get something (very quickly) she buried it. Hmmm, after eating all of today’s bone - I didn’t move this time - she turned up with yesterday’s bone & proceeded to spend 10 minutes finding the right place.
