Lai-Kuuvalu was #wary of the man at best, despite being deeply in love with him. The muse of her heartsong, it was impossible to ignore Feodor or his presence. He wasn't some great beauty, or master composer; he certainly couldn't rule. But ruling was for Queens, not men.

Her presence could #rob darkness from shadows, bidding demons real and not alike to #wait forever for her passing. Her smile lit up any room - her gentle warmth, like a dancing hearth flame on a winter's night. Contagious ebullience emanated from her. This and more made her a Saintess.

With #careless abandon, the young tourist searched the skeleton of a massive sailing boat revealed by low tide. The cry of gulls reminded her of the bird that dropped her wallet with mom's picture into the ship's gaping hole. She spotted it. The water drew closer; the sea roared louder. She ran.
#Idolatry most profound; a man, a woman, neither, both - a hero. A statue wreathed in flowers each season, celebrating a life nobody could remember. A martyr, a saint, a lost soul... Remembered, forgotten, beloved all the same.

I left her #outside in the snow, the rain, the hail, the dry, the sun, the heat. Day in, day out, naught more than taut rope keeping her at bay. That rope grew slack. Days turned to weeks, weeks to seasons. One day I let her in; she loved me anyway. I #regret what I did. I'm so sorry.

Only on Earth or..? In my yet-unwritten-but-planned novel (same universe as Dreams of Pelagy), there's a deity tied to the Universe's existence nearly died, and their child (tied to a Universal Force) did briefly die due to their parent-deity on accident; the Universe almost winked out of existence.
Steel clashed. Boots slipped in dirt-made-mud, courtesy of rain and blood-fall. The clanging of metal striking metal rang out. A gasp, a gurgle. A victor? No; more blood for the earth. A battle over a yet-unnamed hill... who benefitted over a pointless #skirmish?
