Tired and thriving. She/her. Designer in Toronto. I want more bike lanes, accessibility, cleaner air, justice, and more musical Star Trek episodes.
I did it! And she waved to everyone like she was the Queen at a parade. Until the naptime crankiness set in, but that was expected.
Trying to determine if I have it in me to go to the One of a Kind show with the baby/toddler or not. I’d prefer to go with another adult but it’s not really in the cards for a weekday.

Trying to create an atmosphere where my kids don’t feel pressured to eat while my ADHD brain and all the compensations I’ve developed is internally screaming at the glacial pace with which they eat breakfast. (People hate it when you’re late! I hate when people rush me when I’m eating! Ah!)

Contemplating messing with my Grandma’s Christmas cookie recipe to accommodate the baby’s egg allergy. Alternatively, the kiddo and I can eat the cookies in secret (Dave sing big on sweets), given that 1 year olds shouldn’t have much sugar.

So Medicaid covers hospital stay for my back injury , but I still need funds to cover my December expenses. I've covered rent but I need another $700-800 to cover everything else. I still am unemployed. I would appreciate sharing it around on social media, thank you!

I hate reposting this but I could really use your help this month covering the rest of December's expenses. Every little bit is appreciated.

It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

I wish I could just send this gif to the provincial and federal governments:

TIL that LM Montgomery’s house, or at least her last house, is in the west end of Toronto. Apparently it’s a heritage site but privately owned. Feels wild to me. Like, who are the people who live there? What do they think about it??

I really don’t know how Dave and I produced such daredevil, climbing-the-walls type kids. The kiddo was more cautious as a toddler but the baby is climbing the couch and doesn’t have a sense of danger about it.

Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

I keep getting really niche software ads on YouTube lately. Like here’s a software for managing the sales for your lawn care business, or here’s a tool to discover what search trends will determine which AI-generated course content you should create. I don’t know what I did to deserve this.

For years, people argued that there's no point in taking climate action unless China is onboard. I'm at a COP30 event where Chinese government officials and renewable industry reps are outlining the fast-paced renewable energy transition and long-term carbon neutrality plan. The story has flipped.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it just occurred to me that it would be adorable to dress up a young toddler as Scrooge McDuck for Halloween. (Mine went as Grogu, same as her big sister at this age.)

My friend gave me a nice big Simpsons beer stein almost 20 years ago and I accidentally dropped it before getting ready for bed tonight. Shattered, tiny shards of glass everywhere that our kids will walk barefooted. So Dave and I basically spent an hour sweeping, wiping and vacuuming, etc.

A month ago, Ontario’s Auditor General told Doug Ford’s government to create a public, accountable climate plan with emissions-reduction targets — as courts have also ordered.

Today, the government’s fall economic statement eliminates all legal obligation to do so. #onpoli

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

A lot of Very Serious People will be pretending to be confused about What This All Means as a way to avoid the simple inconvenient reality: Voters like it when candidates are kind sincere non-weirdos who are passionate about big popular ideas that will actually help real people.

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.
