Just a man. A man that thinks The Killer is better than Hard Boiled.
Ladies and gents, my rambling review of Donnie Yen’s latest, THE PROSECUTOR, is now up on my YouTube channel.

Enjoy!

When Donnie Yen finally hangs up being an actor, I can see him having a much better late-stage career than Jackie Chan.
Jackie is making fluff for a quick paycheck. I think Donnie will continue to direct great action films. He just needs to find the right talent.

I’m a classy man. A gentleman some might say.
But I’d be lying if I said I’m content with the lack of non-bot titties on Bluesky.
Where are all the fiery biscuits? Am I following the wrong people?

I watched THE PROSECUTOR (2025) last night. Easily Donnie Yen’s finest work as a director. I absolutely loved it.
Do NOT go in expecting Flashpoint or Raging Fire. This is a legal thriller with a few action sequences. The action is amazing though. It feels fresh and more age appropriate for Donnie.

Yes!! Welcome to the cool kid club! Hard Boiled is universally loved and I understand why but The Killer just has something extra about it. It’s the atmosphere of the film.
Plus, the church shootout is my favourite shootout of all time.
@fuforthought.bsky.social i came across your profile in some movie accounts to follow someone put together. Seen your headline The Killer is Bette then Hard Boiled. Yes!! They say Hard Boiled is best action flick ever, but I’ve always like The Killer more. I thought I was the only one.

The Prosecutor is now showing near me but it’s at a really shitty theater where the “youth” hang out.
Last thing I want is to be surrounded by a gaggle of teen wankers talking over the film.
Will teenage knob heads see “Donnie Yen” and buy tickets? Or not? Decisions, decisions.

I finally got around to making a video on my top 10 action films of 2024.
It’s missing some universally loved films like The Beekeeper but I’m really happy with it.

If you care to watch the vid…

I decided to finally buy Audition today. I don’t actually know if I’ve ever seen it. I mean, I know the twist and I’ve seen the really gruesome bit but I don’t actually know what happens in the film. I don’t really know the plot.

Has anyone got a totally legal copy of Pantyhose Hero they want to totally legally upload and totally legally send to me?

Video evidence of my cat expressing her distaste for Sammo Hung films.
Maybe she’s more of a Jimmy Wang Yu gal.

#NowWatching Kingdom (2019)

I’v been promising myself to watch these for years but I’ve just never gotten around to it.
I’m kicking off 2025 right by finally getting to them.

Legendary martial artist, actor, stuntman, stunt coordinator and, at one time, bodyguard to the stars, Richard Norton, turns 75 today.
Norton needs to be given his flowers. He’s always had an amazing on screen presence.
Here he is whooping Andy Lau and Cynthia Rothrock in Magic Crystal (1986).

Give it a listen. Enjoy the sultry magic of two Brits chatting it up about a Renny Harlin classic.
Joining me today we have special guest
@fuforthought.bsky.social to discuss the 1996 movie The Long Kiss Goodnight. A somewhat timely action flick to end the Christmas week with! Shaun was great to sit down and chat with and oh boy do we have some fun with this one!

Links in bio.

Todays #physicalmedia pickups are the Terrifier 3 4K (I despise steelbooks but have the other two in steelbooks) and the 4K of Bones and All.

#NowWatching Jingle All the Way (1996)

This one’s a first-time watch for me. I’m not sure it’s considered a Christmas classic, but I’m trying to squeeze in a few Chrimbo movies I haven’t seen.

Thank the lord! I go to the cinema on Christmas Day each year but this year I was left with Kraven tickets because nothing else was showing.
Well, the theater I go to announced today that they’re screening Nosferatu, so the wife and I canceled Kraven and got tickets to that instead. Sweet.

If I’m about to leave the house and my wife asks if I’m ready, I always say “I’m ready! Ready for the big ride, baby!” like Nicolas Cage in Face/Off.
What's a weird movie line that has made it's way into your everyday speech?

This prompt brought to you by me saying, "Fuckin' calm down, Greg. It's soccer." to explain my annoyance about someone making a mountain out of a molehill.

The wife and I are spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day watching Christmas movies. I’ll be watching Jingle All the Way for the first time and I want to introduce her to Black Christmas. Preferably the original, though I know the remake’s probably safer due to its cheese.
But which action flick?

#JustWatched Anora (2024)

Excellent film. I don’t think it’s going to end up in my top 10 for the year but it really is superb. Mikey Madison blows the roof off with her performance. Amazing stuff. She deserves an Oscar nom.
I do think is sags a little at one point but it’s nothing major.

I know we’ve had the term “Armchair Psychologist” for a long time but every filmbro is all of a sudden an “Armchair Cinematographer.” So many opinions on the Superman trailer’s aesthetic, choice of camera, etc.
Or maybe my “eye for cinema” is shite, because I think it looks great.

I’m going to the dispensary tomorrow morning to buy my first vape pen and then I’ve got two days of pure movie watching. No work.
Definitely going to watch Anora and The Outrun. The rest are a little up in the air. Juror #2? Conclave? Probably both.
