Roxana Radu and I wrote a short letter about the need to uphold the sanctity of citations in academia, and not giving in to AI. The craft and art of attributing and situating knowledge are in danger, and we believe this would first harm under-credited, often erased work.

France is dumping Teams. Universities should list that in their employment benefits.

I am expecting an award from EFF (a small medal), but customs consider it as a "high value good" and would not send it; I would need to drive by for "clearance". wat de fuk.

New research paper out: **Contiguous Zero-Copy for Encrypted Transport Protocols**. This paper explains we may have got the integration of symmetric cryptography into networking protocols wrong for efficiency.

But we can fix it simply by ... reversing everything. A thread

On the first semester of 2025-2026, projects in my classes were not marked anymore. Only feedbacks were given upon project consultation. Results: almost all students submitted their project; it was mostly AI-generated code like in 2024-2025, but I don't feel obligated to confront after the fact.

Lui l'a avoué. D'autres ont plus de mal, y compris à s'avouer à elleux-mêmes que l'usage d'une IAgen se fait au détriment de leur compréhension et donc de leur apprentissage… alors que c'est *systématique* !

I think we are witnessing the beginning of context windows large enough to carry long chain of thoughts needed for iterations of a "research prompt" assembling a broken paper. I see "knowledgeable" reviewers getting completely fooled. We're toasted :)
Reviewing a paper for a top conference, page 2 appears to have a Related Work partially or fully AI generated, with hallucinated references and statements. Am I right to stop reviewing there, ignoring parts of the paper that are not AI slop? Thoughts?

Statements from my last 4 reviews: we are so fucked.

This man is a "a decadent, monstrous gasbag of depravity and evil". As said William Hughes to describe Baron Harkonnen from Dune. You had another name in mind reading the first sentence? :)

Microsoft announced self-hosted Github Actions to be billed by the minute starting in 2026 ... Of course that wasn't well received, and they backtracked that for now.

Massive exode to GItLab soon?

The ACM Digital Library, where a LOT of computing-related research is published (I'd say at least 75% of my own publications), is now not only providing (without consent of the authors and without opt-in by readers) AI-generated summaries of papers, but they appear as the *default* over abstracts.

Donc, hier soir, j'ai fais une escape room sur le thème d'un cambriolage d'un cartel colombien. Pendant ce temps, ma maison se faisait visitée par des voleurs. Sacrés colombiens, ils avaient un coup d'avance.

Ah, it finally happened: reading a review (I am a reviewer too), I can see the review is AI-generated. The review contains bland reasoning idiocy.
