The photograph captures the ethereal beauty of Jervaulx Abbey, an enchanting 12th-century Cistercian ruin in North Yorkshire. The image, framed through a jagged, cavernous stone opening, showcases the site's unique blend of ancient architecture and untamed nature.

At the centre, a slender birch tree stands like a ghostly sentinel against a vibrant twilight sky. The heavens are awash in soft purples, magentas, and hints of amber, where wispy, feathered clouds catch the last glow of a setting sun. This celestial backdrop highlights the abbey’s "romantic" atmosphere, a hallmark of its private ownership that encourages wildflowers and trees to flourish among the stones.

To the right, the weathered remains of a significant monastic structure rise. Standing next to a massive rock face and one of a series for waterfalls in stunning blue light, an epic twist on Blue Hour. Guillard Glacier lies ahead, a small lake marks the termination of our advance of our 2 kilometer wet walk in. It's a relentless, a thick mist of water falls, sometimes sideways, even the camera is thankful for its raincoat. It's a magical experience.

Guillard Glacier is an impromptu stop, I guess they wanted to test our rain gear. No worries there's dry clothes, a warm ship and a fully stocked bar upon our return.
