musing on why i’m suddenly enjoy french even though i studied it in university and hated it and i think thr biggest reason is adhd but i also think its because an anglophone dude who teaches himself french is kinda cringe where as a anglophone woman who teaches herself french is fine.

this is known as a false friend btw
learning french as in english speaker is great because you’ll see a french word spelled the same as an english one and like 95% the meaning is the same or pretty close but that other 5% it’ll be something like “le chair” and it means “the flesh”

it’s very frustrating that even after setting my language preferences to include french, youtube still has not recommended a single french video. meanwhile instagram just started serving french reels before i even decided to commit to learning french.
