I'm getting very fast through _Nature of Middle-earth_ because it is astonishing how much is JRRT without spreadsheet software, doing agonizingly lengthy calculations, trying (and failing) to rationalize Elf aging and the timeline. Which I'm mostly skipping. Never thought of him as a math nerd.

Alien: Isolation has really nailed the tone and visuals, but the gameplay is frustrating. 90% pixelbitching, limited save spots, and bad UI design. Just died because being choked made the indicator of what key means "fight back" get blurred. Thrown back to a half hour of gameplay earlier.

Halloween Horror at Hadley's Hope: Tonight's #Alien #ttrpg one-shot was hard to corral, with the players going off-topic a lot, but we squeezed out a rushed but intense finale, in which a facehugger was one-shot spatchcocked, then the three survivors promptly killed one another for hidden agendas.

My #RPGNight #ttrpg group at @rbccvt.org is doing #StarTrekAdventures featuring the story of the U.S.S. Challenger in the early 2260s. So at #CraftClub for a few months I've been building the #model, and I finally finished it today, with a custom decal for the name.

#TheOneRing #ttrpg - The dice were with us - we cleaned the clocks of the orcs at the East Gate, climbed the Dimrill Stair without mishap, and convinced the isolationist village at the top to invite us in and show us a secret entrance. I hope dice karma doesn't bite us next session, into Moria...

Today at #CraftClub at @rbccvt.org I did the final painting and assembly of the U.S.S. Challenger, the ship from our #StarTrekAdventures #ttrpg at #RPGNight. In two weeks, I will be doing decals, including a custom decal for the name, and finally finishing this project months in the making.

#StarWars #OpenTable #ttrpg - my character Lingon is not getting many chances to do anything. Basic mismatch, the adventure is nearly all combat and so far entirely set on a ship, and she's a street urchin sneaky scrounger. Worse yet this is a one-shot. Maybe I should make a new character?

#StarWars #ttrpg #art - Lingon was an orphan in the failed mining settlement of Hardscrabble on Muckree, getting by on scrounging, dumpster diving, petty theft, selling info, and staying hidden. One day she stowed away on a ship, spent time in a real city, then hid on an Imperial shuttle. Oops.

Fossil phrases like 'hoist by his own petard' are always fun to collect. I just realized that 'even a stopped clock is right twice a day' has become a fossil phrase during my lifetime. I know plenty of kids who have never seen a clock that works that way, except maybe in a movie.

Visited the #VeryLargeArray while in #NewMexico and, unusually, bought a souvenir; there's always T-shirts to fit my wife but not me, but this mug seemed awesome. Got it home through checked baggage intact, had one cup of tea in it, dropped it, smash. Decided to try to save it. Now, paint it or not?
