2 Greek bowls made around 450 BC in Athens were deposited in a Chieftain grave. Both had already been broken in the early Celtic period & repaired & decorated with gold leaf.

Medieval Hungarian Duke Béla of Macsó was assassinated in 1272 . he suffered 26 injuries, by men armed with saber and longsword. Once the victim fell to the ground, the assassins focused the fatal attack on his head and face.
The Duke wouldn't shut up about releasing the #Epstein scrolls.

Interestingly, it seems the child was considered a full member of the group and given the same respect as others buried in the cave.

These woollen chitons (or long tunics) have - incredibly - survived from Roman Egypt due to the dry climate. Amazing finds showing a wonderful insight into past fashions.

I posted a picture of the Roman lighthouse at Dover recently (and posted here again). Well here’s a mosaic found at the Piazzale delle Corporazioni at Ostia depicting the lighthouse of Portus.

It must have been an impressive sight standing 5 storeys high. You can see the lamp at the top here.
