Spadina is facing a lot of development pressure right now as the city continues to grow at an unprecedented rate.

Understanding how to densify this corridor while maintaining it's feel & cultural value (especially the microretail of chinatown) is vital. (+) short thread 🧵

phenomenal reforms coming out of the west coast right now, we could really learn a lot from Vancouver!
A significant move Vancouver made this week was moving forward with enabling novel Single Egress & Space Efficient Stairs. Led by the great team in Development, Buildings & Licensing, supported closely by Vancouver Fire Rescue Service; and Planning this will be transformative for low-rise apartments

heard this on the radio and still can't believe it!! wonderful news!! a major breakthrough in equity at the ttc and simplifying fares. this is what a system that cares about it's riders looks like.
Mayor Olivia Chow is introducing fare capping for TTC riders in her upcoming budget. Instead of having to decide whether it makes sense to buy a monthly pass in advance, rides will automatically be free after 47 trips starting next Sept.

there is a distinct possibility that Finch West's performance was was so poor that it finally jumpstarted action for streetcars across the city to be properly usable

Nothing about the current collpase in housing starts is shocking to me

For years people warned cities not to cook the golden goose with high DCs and onerous application processes because they needed the eggs not the meat!

All the meat is eaten, the feast is over, and now we suffer empty stomaches

this capitulation is so unacceptable and just furthers the reality that transit riders and lower income folks are depriotized. 'sufferin dufferin' continues I guess, all do that a few more cars can congest neighbourhoods.

Thinking about all wasted money, time, and resources designing + engineering the bus lane/road layouts north of Bloor only to completely throw them in the trash.

Are we not going to at least do peak hour HOV lanes?? Meet in the middle like the opposition wanted? Have parking & deliveries off peak?

does anyone know why the Ontario line, despite making several easy decisions to make construction much cheaper (such as elevated stations like this) is somehow still the most expensive subway we've ever built?
Thorncliffe Park Station and Flemingdon Park Station on Toronto’s upcoming Ontario Line. Great examples of elevated metro stations, which hopefully inspires future elevated transit in Toronto and the surrounding region.

BREAKING: A federal judge ruled all transgender and intersex people can obtain passports that align with their gender identity while the case against President Trump's executive order proceeds.

While this is good news, we will continue fighting until this executive order is blocked permanently.

Yesterday a friend and I visited the historic Mackenzie house in Toronto! It's the residence of the famed first mayor of Toronto, prominent progressive politician, and leader of a failed rebellion against the crown.

A short thread (🧵) of the man and his museum: (1/6)

My first @forkast.bsky.social video ever watched? All this time I was so amused by the double-deckeredness of Hong Kong trams, I never noticed they are only "single module".
Is it good? Idk enough to say.
