Is there a good descriptor for the type of story—which I mostly encounter in chamber horror and time loop thrillers—where the protagonists interfacing with and attempting to circumvent The Rules is the focus of the story?

I'm thinking especially of Talk to Me, It's What's Inside, Russian Doll, etc.
