@rosemarymosco.com Great book!
Do you like birds? My new book THE BIRDING DICTIONARY is out today wherever you buy books! This little book is deeply silly and full of love, and I hope you'll laugh and maybe enjoy an obscure fact or two.

Great-horned Owlets like these, do leave the nest before they seem ready. While they generally are not able to fly, they can often fall to the forest floor and use 'leaner' trees to get off the ground. Parent still find and feed them.
Siblicide & asynchronous size of owlets might explain it.

I've always been quite fascinated by the northern adaptation of Wood Frogs. These and other fun stories made it into a Birds of Alberta podcast episode. Have a listen. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/w...

💡Off with the lights!
🪟On with the effective window treatments!
🌱In with the native plants to supply food 🐛!
Tonight while the USA sleeps, 129 million birds will fly overhead as part of spring migration.

Many will be tiny, colorful visitors arriving from South and Central America, such as warblers.

Migration modeling is fascinating. Yup, that’s BIRDS on the weather radar. 🌿 🪶
