America is not a Christian nation.

America is a nation where the rich and powerful have reduced Christianity to just another tool to exploit for their own interests at the expense of the very people Jesus called us to serve: the poor, the hungry, the sick, the stranger, and the oppressed.

Favorite part of listening to the #radio call of the Rangers/Cubs game last night was the heckler the Wrigley Field crowd mic was picking up. His burly baritone voice kept singing Beyonce's 'Texas Hold 'Em'

Kevin Hassett suggests Canadian authorities are covering up major fentanyl operations: "I can tell you that in the situation room I've seen photographs of fentanyl labs in Canada that the law enforcement folks were leaving alone. Canada's got a big drug problem."

On the metro with @standupforscience.bsky.social protesters. Temptation to miss my flight and see it is high.

Bouncy ball on a cleaning cart in the Longworth building. I really want to know the backstory.

Baring none, I've made up the story that a janitor caught a representative bouncing it down the hall and took it away.

Eating lunch in the House cafeteria. No wonder they are concerned about inflation, their cookies cost $2.50

In DC for healthcare advocacy (much more on that later) decided to go see some founding documents. Was amazed how emotional I got seeing the constitution.

Thanks to the joint address going long, my long-delayed flight had to circle for 30 minutes as DCA was closed

Sen. Campbell is free to believe this but not free to legislate it. If she wants to focus on eternal salvation, she should resign & get a church job.

Dallas Love Field is a convenient, easy airport to deal with, and the 'new' terminal is quite nice... but who at the city thought 5 bathrooms would be enough? The Lubbock airport has more.

Airport bar is playing random assortment of 2000s-era country. It just played a song about 9/11 called "Have you Forgotten?"

Seems like a poor choice of song to play for people about to get on an airplane.

Police standoff taking place in my fair city this evening, so I played stringer for my old station until their crew showed up. As one of my former colleagues said, "You may leave the news, but the news never leaves you."

For the past hour I've been thinking about the earthquake down in the Midland area that I felt up here... and about the guy from Midland I met at the state capitol this week wearing a "I ❤️ fossil fuels" lapel pin. I'm sure those are completely unrelated.

State advocacy days for Texas Bleeding Disorders at the 89th Texas Legislature were a success. Floor recognition in both chambers. Plus, small talk about bottled water turned into the discovery that I share an aunt & uncle with Carly Walker from the Speaker's office.

Made the mistake of searching "hemophilia" on here to look for a friend. Now I'm butting into random conversations, hoping to enlighten some folks about our cause.

I vividly remember the first time I heard about gene therapy. I was 12, and my hematologist talked about how it could happen 'soon'

This therapy had been on the market since April. That seems a little quick to pull the plug, especially for a treatment we've been waiting for since the early 1990s.
Pfizer stops commercialization of hemophilia gene therapy Beqvez
Pfizer said on Thursday it will stop global development and commercialization of its hemophilia gene therapy, Beqvez, citing soft demand from patients and their doctors.

I never thought I'd see the day I agree with a Mitch McConnell quote:

"I will not condone the re-litigation of proven cures, and neither will millions of Americans who credit their survival and quality of life to scientific miracles."
