We just got our letters. We're self employed, so we have to purchase our own insurance. Between loss of subsidy and increased premiums, our insurance is going from $1330/mo to $2438/mo, with increased deductibles and copays. That's 16k/yr to >29K/yr. This isn't sustainable. Who can afford this?
Millions of Americans are already learning that their health insurance costs for 2026 are going way up.

I want to hear from you so we can make this impossible for the GOP to ignore the consequences of their policies.

If your premiums are going up, reply below and please share your story.

This was a great conversation. I was not very familiar with @kim.senate.gov , but definitely want to hear more of what he has to say.

You would think at some point, SCOTUS would decide they’ve done enough to help that man, but apparently, nope.
More legal support for an imperial presidency: “Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. on Tuesday temporarily paused a federal judge’s ruling ordering the Trump administration to pay out $4 billion in foreign aid that had been appropriated by Congress.”

Important.
1. You may have noticed something. I used to talk about the president’s dementia pretty regularly, but haven’t in months. That’s because I’ve lost faith. I used to believe the Washington press corps would see the plainly obvious. I no longer believe that. The hypocrisy is too baked in.

E enabled by people too cowardly and incompetent to stop it, the Project 2025 Presidency has done in months what our enemies couldn't do in a 100 years. It astounds me that the same folks who've been shouting about "government overreach" for two decades are cheering it all on now.

More than corruption, all the cancelled research in every sector is the very definition of waste. It's billions of $$$ & years of time/expertise lost, that will cost us more than money. It leads to a lower quality of life for all of us as the US gives up it's role as the leader in new technologies.
Palantir has been getting a huge number of deals like this, in what is extremely obviously self-dealing.
The Air Force and Navy are poised to cancel two nearly complete projects worth about $800 million because they want Salesforce and billionaire Peter Thiel's Palantir, to have a chance to win similar projects. The result could be a costly do-over.

Most people don't answer calls from unknown numbers, but being self-employed, I do—in case it's a potential new client. So I often get calls asking my opinion about certain topics. I just got one, and for the first time ever, I hesitated when asked who I voted for. That's where we are

Canada has a VERY TEMPORARY legal situation allowing anyone with provable CA ancestry to claim Canadian citizenship w/ no generational limit. It may be overruled, but it’s real now. Colin and I both have French Québécois ancestors so you bet yer ass that I’m doing a LOT of rush document requests now

Jena, LA back in the news, unsurprisingly for the same thing that always gets it in the news. The only thing that's changed is a bigger prison facility.
It is weird and fascinating to read a longform piece about my hometown (Jena, Louisiana) and its notable role in the current immigration landscape. I haven't felt welcome there in a long time, largely my own fault for "running my mouth." That sorta thing is frowned upon. slate.com/business/202...

Great stuff here from @wired.com. I continue to be amazed at how niche press (Wired, Rolling Stone, Teen Vogue) has managed to become the face of this sort of reporting and organising while the mainstream media has done worse than failing.

Today, people—from students to federal workers, from immigrants to the LGBTQ+ community—find themselves forced to fight deportations, surveillance, and the drastic erosion of fundamental human rights.

So, WIRED dedicated a whole issue on How To Win A Fight. Start ⬇️:

All of it, manufactured.
Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

National missile defense is the longest-running scam in the history of the Department of Defense. Musk didn’t invent it, but he’s about to get a whole lot richer by perpetuating it.
