Except it was FRANCE who built the Suez Canal in a joint partnership with Egypt.

You know, as a person who saw huge swathes of her hometown razed, cleared, and repurposed, I think I know a little tiny bit about disaster capitalism.

So, imagine- it will be hard! - that Trump's plans for Gaza are completely altruistic. He's just looking at it as a (failed) property developer. /1

I bought a 1980s book of Egypt photos in a second hand shop today entirely because of this shot. Dorothy Bohm,Billboards in Aswan, 1989. I find it interesting that they're in English, but that they bothered to include the name of Hassan's instrument. #Egypt #dance

So, Trump 1.0 was "drain the swamp"! And Trump 2.0 is "give kickbacks to billionaires"? Am I missing why his voters thought that was good, or?

Welcome new FB refugees and online pals! I'm still holding off on posting too much in this space, since it lacks the level of privacy I prefer and you know I hate the public drama. Blocking won't stop people identifying IRL me, and it's protection for IRL me and my loved ones that's most important.

Feeling increasingly uncomfortable with people outside Aotearoa coopting Hana's awesome haka to support their own agendas, however well-meaningly. This isn't about you. This is about Māori and tangata tiriti joining to protect our nation's founding document, led by Māori, who have most to lose.

I've got a tradesman doing a cashie in my garden today and I've been wracking my brains trying to remember what Bloke Types called those weekend jobs using workplace resources.
Suddenly I remember: FOREIGNERS!

I wonder why they called them that?

Great news for UK - the fantastic Kiwi drama After the Party is coming to your screens. Unapologetically middle aged, complex, and not always likeable woman at the heart of a troubling case that divides a family and community... I loved this show.
