Same. I’m also old enough to remember when Canadian diplomats risked their lives in 1980 to save 6 Americans working at the US Embassy. They brought them home on Canadian passports (the movie Argo was a true story). The US went wild in gratitude, flying Canadian flags everywhere.
After American airspace was closed on 9/11, over 230 flights with 30,000 passengers and crew were diverted to Canadian airports. Transport Canada received thousands of calls from members of the public offering to help the stranded passengers.
