This is such an important point. The foundation for learning has to be emotional security and the confidence to explore. We spend far too much time rote teaching them ‘stuff’ and not enough time giving them the support and encouragement for ‘learning to learn.’

We need a shift in what we prioritise, children don't learn because we tell them anywhere near as effectively as when we show them

Whilst we are showing them unkindness when they make mistakes

Whilst we judge, blame and shame them,...

"If intimacy of relation between infant & parent..."
A profound idea.
It changes the way science & culture think about human functioning. You begin to realise this capacity for intimacy is the seat of trauma -- and of shared joy.

Bullying, gaslighting, mocking, condescending even aggressive behaviour can all be missed when they are so easily and naturally adopted by those for whom this was of life is the norm.
We forget how dreadful it is. It is not normal
That meeting between Zelenskyy, Trump & Vance contained so many shifts in relational boundaries. It is easy to have missed them, amidst the drama & the bluster. I want to highlight them because they provide signals as to how international relations will be tested in coming weeks. THREAD

What would a trauma-informed analysis of the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting look like? I think it would pay attention to body language. It would consider what was happening biologically. Here's my THREAD tracking changes over the 50 mins.

It's a revolution, a quiet one but still a revolution.
