In “Guns and Gas: Investigating the 1970s Car Chase Film”, I discuss how the chase in Bullitt (1968) innovated the automotive pursuit sequence. The pursuit avoided rear screen projection to instead place actors in moving vehicles driving at speed performing, for the most part, the stunt driving.

The Commitments (1987) by Roddy Doyle was filmed (1991) by Alan Parker. The novel is notable for being almost entirely dialogue with a focus on the lives of the working class. The film maintains the comedy with more drama and a nod to soul music. 🎷☘️🎸
