I'm running for my local school board. Some days, I think it'd be better to lose. But, I can't quit once I start something, and I know the other candidates aren't going to be better at the job. But, some days...
I can rest easy knowing that, regardless, the community will get what it deserves.

I find it funny that the same parent who complains at a school board meeting about their child being exposed to "murder" (in a middle school drama performance) also has that same child who can quote scenes from numerous episodes of "Game of Thrones."

Without too much detail, I'm running for my local school board. I'm a non-Christian, left-leaning guy in a rural, VERY Christian, very right-wing area. Sometimes I wonder if the pain is worth it. Why am I doing this? And then I get a call from a retired teacher who asks how they can help.

That's not a threat. It's just school policy. Please don't harass our teachers for your child's failure to turn in assignments.

Second after I walk out of the school today, it goes into lockdown for "outside threats." Umm, what do *I* do?? I'm ALREADY outside. I can't go back in. Do I just run? What're my options here?
(In the end, I just walked away like from a Michael Bay scene and hoped it didn't explode.)
