I've been talking this game up to friends since around Flathill and it's so fun. I'm on a third playthrough-- one Early Access, one after 1.0, and this time on Apocalypse difficulty-- and it still feels insanely fun and fresh. There is *so much* video game in this game.
Just occured to me that Abiotic Factor seems to be absent from a lot of GOTY shortlists, even indie ones.
Baffling to me as it has not only been an enormous hit, but might be one of the most interesting survival-crafting games ever, especially once you start dimension-hopping.

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.
They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

I think if I had one criticism of the KIM writing, it's that they refer to the Operator as "the kid" almost exclusively and in my head my duo are more like this. #warframe #tennocreate #sketch

If your company cannot hire any voice actors, don't put voice acting in your game.

So many iconic game voice work is little vendor greetings, and to farm that out to a machine is a hollow admission of a lack of care.

I remember reading a post from a dev once, can't remember who said it, that said that true randomization doesn't feel like randomization so game devs sometimes do tweaked algorithms to create the perception of randomization when there's usually some sort of pattern in it.
The game in which the premise is "the odds are real but gamers struggle to conceptualize or even believe them" has negative reviews from gamers who don't believe the odds are real (game: Unfair Flips)
