It turns out having related state stored in an object with functions that act on it is a lot better than one really really really massive function with local variables for like fifteen pieces of state declared at the top. Almost like those OOP people might've been onto something after all

Wyverns are almost a perfect body, but y'know they can't play the Game Boy Advance very well so sorry that knocks some points off

💭 I should put all the other games I'm playing/planning on playing aside and replay _Portal_ and _Portal 2_ in their entirety again

I know beaver furries are none too common but I'll be very disappointed if a pair of beaver furries have never recreated the Beaver Boys intro from _Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!_

I don't know why I didn't add LWN's weekly edition to my RSS feed sooner (actually I do, just because it's annoying seeing the subscriber-only entries and I can't pay for a subscription right now. I learned Miniflux filters though, so I added `EntryTitle=^\[\$]` and it's good now)

I wonder how it would work out if they made a new Unicode version that _isn't_ a complete redesign (which wouldn't see any adoption), but did make breaking changes to clean up all the bad decisions they're currently stuck with.

Probably still wouldn't turn out well still though because it'd […]

Once again having to force myself to not way overengineer something to avoid using amounts of memory that programs touted as the "most lightweight" happily use in a heartbeat. This time I was thinking of datastructures to avoid allocating a flat array that's an entire… 600 KiB. Wow, anyone's […]

Thinking about how Leslie Nielsen was a big-name dramatic actor and was sorta on the tail end of his career when he did a fantastic comedic performance in _Creepshow_ (1982) and completely revitalized his career but as a comedic actor (yes, _Airplane!_ was what made him actually famous again […]

C's function pointer type syntax is a plot to spite functional programmers by discouraging higher-order functions as much as possible

I really want to overthink the parser for this assembler lol. I want to separate the tokenizer and parser but I think it'd just be fine to have a bunch of functions like `expect_left_bracket` that just checks if the next non-whitespace character is a `[`, rather than going `tokenizer […]

Small Minecraft youtubers are refreshing because they tend to have a more Normal perspective about the game, while big names/speedrunners portray a sorta warped view about what "everyone" does ("you must have every mechanic memorized and exclusively play 'optimally' with no messing around")
