Unhook ourselves from oil and gas and we unhook ourselves from dependency on dictators, autocrats and expansionist regimes all over the planet.
Renewables and other low-carbon energy sources are not just good climate sense. They are also good political sense.

Trumpian imperialism in action: kidnap the head of the regime, leaving the rest of it in place so as to access the oil reserves for the US companies. Then realize the oil is actually quite expensive to extract, so go ahead and SUBSIDIZE the oil companies. Perfect.

These posts aren't about the Palisades fire. They're just cheap shots to boost calls for the dismantling of environmental protections. They reveal a narcissism at the heart of humanity's troubles, a disregard of life & ecology, & a rejection of our duty of care to the world around us.

It should be no surprise that environmental NGOs are under specific, intensive, & sustained attack by a de facto alliance of right-wing (think Project 2025) & centrist forces (think Abundance).

David Behringer told us, “If you’re drinking water, you’re drinking a lot of TFA". A type of PFAS, classed by German regulators as 'reprotoxic' - potentially damaging to fertility + child development - TFA is produced when F-gases used in refrigeration, or PFAS in pesticides begin to degrade.

🚨 Testing from @anses-fr.bsky.social has found that #PFASpollution in tap water is ubiquitous across France and its overseas territories.

⚠️ TFA, a short-chain PFAS, was found in 92% of the samples, often at high concentrations.

It's here the seeds of "Abundance" were planted to cultivate an alliance btw extractive capital, fossil fuels, & centrists to attack the progressive left & take a sledgehammer to bedrock environmental laws they perceived as a threat to their dominance & the extractive systems they depend on.

Genuine question: What happens if Dems somehow have the coherence and spine to extract a "force Trump not to derail renewables" concession from Repubs on "permitting reform," then Trump's handlers just... ignore it? Who forces their hand? The courts, appeals courts, and eventually Supremes. . . . ?
HUGE: In a letter to Congress, more than 140 solar companies detail how the Trump permitting freeze on renewables is worse than imagined and hitting copious projects on private lands

They’re asking Congress to intervene and say “bipartisan permitting reform” won’t help without forcing Trump’s hand

Pundit supporters of "permitting reform" sweep aside (& do not understand) ecology & community.

In their ignorance, they seek to confine the decision-making space to energy infrastructure.

This invariably leads to doomed conflict btw/energy infrastructure + ecological & community systems.
