This likely underestimates the impact given that we did not model all smoking-related diseases!
A study by researchers at @rcsipophealth.bsky.social calculates that current smokers in Ireland will lose almost 5 million years of life & 2.5 million years of productivity, leading to healthcare costs of around €20.2bn.
