if you want artists to make weirder art, you have to create stable living conditions that allow them to. homogeneity isn't a matter of artists lacking culture-- there are many soulful artists out there-- it's a matter of unregulated corporate dominance combined with artists who cant afford to create

AI is such a perfect distillation of capitalism: a massive dedication of resources to make and maintain a product that no one needs, prompting companies to desperately try to create demand they can then supply, ultimately deteriorating our ability to think, create, or explore.

Vanishing tech is one of the oddest problems in historical preservation... the 20th century saw a mass proliferation in means to record so much of existence from every day ordinary to the epic yet that evidence of events is vanishing for myriad reasons... which is why the Internet Archive matters.
And why is it important to preserve 78s? According to audio archivist George Blood, "To remember half of recorded history, it is important to preserve 78rpm discs."

Vanishing tech is one of the oddest problems in historical preservation... the 20th century saw a mass proliferation in means to record so much of existence from every day ordinary to the epic yet that evidence of events is vanishing for myriad reasons... which is why the Internet Archive matters.
