To get consistently cooperative politics requires an electoral system that ensures that the percent of the votes cast for a party is reflected in the percentage of the seats that party receives. The great majority of democracies use some form of proportional representation.

As Alberta teachers vote on whether to accept or reject the latest offer, we would like to Albertans as a whole to know that modernized democratic systems produce more widely accepted and more predictable public policy.
