The forecast WWB event is currently ongoing with another one charging up to the east.

Up north in the Arabian Sea, #92A might form into a weak tropical storm.

Down south, #CHENGE has formed, and might intensify into a weak cyclone. Currently, it is heavily sheared.

Tropical Storm #Fengshen has been named east of the Philippines, and it looks abysmal. A far cry from the <920 runs that models were hinting at, as the storm did not consolidate fast enough to move north.

The storm may still develop into a typhoon in the South China Sea.

Go forth my OFBs!

#Lorenzo is currently weakening quite quickly as convective activity waned. Dry air is also enveloping the storm, with most convection collapsing and producing highly visible outflow boundaries.

NHC does not forecast any intensification.
October 14, 2025 at 3:53 PM
#Lorenzo is looking rough this morning. Convection is highly disorganized as the center becomes enveloped in dry air. We have not had an ASCAT pass for a while, however the last one did indicate that the center is in poor shape.

Some model solutions see Lorenzo restrengthening.

New article alert! 🚨
Take a look into the peculiar and resilient #Cyclone #Shakhti of the Arabian Sea, which traversed the basin in early october.

EyewallWX - Cyclone Shakhti
Shakhti was the first hurricane force cyclone in the Arabian Sea since 2023, which spent a long time meandering through the basin.

#TropicalStorm #Lorenzo has formed in the MDR. The system is organizing somewhat, however it will face shear and dry air in its early life.

A microwave image taken around 5z shows large OFBs emanating from the storm - a sign of dry air causing convection to collapse.
October 13, 2025 at 11:02 AM
Despite #cyclone #Shakhti officially dissipating, its ghostly low level center can still be seen spinning devoid of convection while slowly drifting towards Somalia.

#Jerry has dissipated yesterday evening. Good riddance!
October 12, 2025 at 7:25 AM
In the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, none of the first 3 major hurricanes - #Erin, #Gabrielle and #Humberto - made landfall as a (sub)tropical cyclone. The last time this happened was in 1958, with hurricanes Cleo, Daisy and Helene.
October 11, 2025 at 8:21 PM
The remnants of #Shakhti are still vigorously spinning away in the Arabian Sea as dry air envelops them. The storm did fire some CBs earlier, however due to low moisture they have since dissipated.

Non the less, #Cyclone #Shakhti has a very resilient LLC!
October 11, 2025 at 10:47 AM
#Jerry is looking severely disorganized this morning. The storm 'split' into two areas of convection with the LLC being hard to distinguish, definitely not a look you'd expect to intensify in the short term.

In other news, #Karen has dissipated in the far north Atlantic.

A new article has been posted to our website, covering the sloppy yet destructive #Typhoon #Bualoi from September. Give it a read!

EyewallWX - Typhoon Bualoi
Bualoi was a sloppy tropical cyclone that traversed the South China Sea in late September of 2025, which caused immense economic damage in Vietnam

Subtropical Storm #Karen has formed in the northern Atlantic. Not often you see a subtropical cyclone forming near 44.5N... yet another interesting case from the 2025 season.

This is the farthest north forming system ever recorded in the North Atlantic!

A very curious situation is currently occurring in the East Pacific: three TCs, less than 1800km from each other!

#Priscilla, #Octave and #17E are now within an area which could fit inside of Sandy 2012. Incredible stuff!
October 9, 2025 at 7:19 PM
96L is currently undergoing subtropical transition in the upper North Atlantic!

The eye has warmed to a considerable 10C (!!) while cool (for this latitude) deep moist convection surrounds it. Phase analysis also indicates a STC, let's see what NHC says!
October 9, 2025 at 7:18 PM
Here's a look at #Jerry today. The system remains heavily sheared due to high shear (heightened by the movement vector), and dry air. The LLC seems to have become more elongated, posing questions about its future.

If Jerry organizes soon, it could become the 5th hurricane of the NATL season.

The article on the beautiful and anomalous, yet unknown typhoon Neoguri has just been posted. Give it a read!

New articles coming soon! I just started university and had less time to write, however I got some time, so expect articles on:
- Neoguri (WPAC, C4)
- Ragasa (WPAC, C5)
- Bualoi (WPAC, C2)
- Gabrielle (NATL, C4)
In the near future! (2-3 days for all of these)
Thank you for your patience!

Nearly 24h long satellite loop showcasing #Hurricane #Humberto 's explosive intensification. The eye cleared rapidly, followed by the CDO becoming more symmetric, eventually bringing us up to 125kt. Powerful, beautiful storm of much importance to #09L (future #Imelda)

the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season story.

Watch Humberto also rapidly intensify from a lopsided tropical storm to a major hurricane.

Notable intensity changes:
- 40 to 125 kt within 48 hours
- 65 to 125 kt within 24 hours
