So my immediate tbr looks like this. Staggering history and political philosophy with fiction tends to help me. Though it’s missing my 20+ redwall novels, the 30+ other political philosophy/history books I bought, and all the Korps novels on my shelf, etc.

God help my tbr is 60+ books long.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

It takes effort, now that she’s let herself come out of fight-or-flight for so long. They don’t touch in the middle; from the ring of two-tone fluff at the base of her neck, an uninterrupted golden-brown expanse continues down across her belly. It continues all the way down to a black patch my eyes will not wander beyond, quickly correcting course. In actuality, it’s all lit up the same overpowering green as everything else here. I only really know her colors from a very casual revealing shortly after we met. That feels so long ago now. And at this moment, you would. And then I would just have to clean up whatever resulting mess comes after; I know all about the way you get.” I have no secrets. I have no advantage, no device, no escape. This is a hatchet to my ribs in essence, its sharpness just as undeniable as the wrath behind it. He continues, “But I do not particularly like that approach. Do you like it? Would you prefer that?” I take a moment to determine whether or not I’m in control of myself again. When I shake my head, it’s of my own volition, but I’m all too aware of my powerlessness here.
