It took a while (mainly due to the huge quantity of data collected on some questions!), but the #StateOfHTML 2025 survey results are now live!

Big thanks to @lea.verou.me who not only designed the original survey back in 2023, but then came back this year to update it.

First quiz in a while where most people are getting it wrong with 14% getting it right, with >100 submissions.

I was going for something pretty tricky here, lol.

You can try at this link - www.youtube.com/post/UgkxQ6I... - and the answer includes a codepen to show the working one in action.

They said Fizz Buzz using CSS (and HTML), but what about a pure CSS version with no HTML? It's possible!

Reading through the L5 CSS Cascading and Inheritance Module again this sweet morning and it still. feels. great.

Speaking candidly, whether you're utilising modern CSS or battling a horde of !important declarations, it's nice to remember the cascade's intent.

What’s new in Chrome 143. CSS and API updates, WebTransport improvements, and new Web Smart Card API. Unicode 16, FedCM upgrades, and digital credentials trials arrive. XSLT is deprecated due to security risks and low usage. #chrome #webdev

I've been working a bit with Tailwind lately, and without jumping into a rage article, I took some time to gather my thoughts. It's not my favourite tool, but why? Here is an honest article on that:

💡 CSS Tip!

Another classic component made easy using corner-shape. A gallery of skewed images with a hover effect.

It can be done with old features, but this one is direction-aware! One code for both directions (left-to-right and right-to-left)

The tree counting function sibling-index() function is something i've wanted and still eager to see exist fully baseline in the web. It returns integers and just like :nth selectors it starts at 1.

I wonder what kind of things people have already made use cases for this..
