Here's Tompkins Square Park in the light snowfall this morning. Hopefully, some of the snow will stick around for the 34th annual tree lighting here today (Dec. 14) from 4-5 p.m. — an excellent East Village tradition.

The "50 Years of PUNK" show opens tonight (11/28) at the Ki Smith Gallery, 170 Forsyth St. on the LES. We got a sneak preview as John Holmstrom, the co-founder, editor, and illustrator of PUNK Magazine, and Ki Smith set up the show. Up through Jan. 11. Weds-Sun noon-6.

For the 1st time, Streecha Ukrainian Kitchen has a menu posted outside its basement spot at 33 E. 7th St. in the East Village. A small but notable addition for a 51-year, no-frills staple run by volunteers to support St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church. Open Fri–Sun, 9–5. 📷 @staciejoy.bsky.social

The Charlie Parker Residence at 151 Ave B in the East Village is back on the market with a $7.2M ask. The landmarked 1849 townhouse, where Parker lived 1951–54, includes 4 full-floor apartments (plus a penthouse with a private deck) facing Tomkins Square Park. It was last listed in 2015 for $9.25M.

Looking forward to seeing "Peter Hujar's Day," which opened yesterday at the Film Forum in NYC. Ben Whishaw plays the renowned photographer, and Rebecca Hall is writer Linda Rosenkrantz. Also: HIGHLY recommend the book the film is based on.

A few details -- the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade is back this fall, marking its 35th year in the East Village on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 1-4 p.m. This year's event will feature a parade along Avenue B and a limited-entry costume competition.

The annual Anarchist Bookfair takes place today (Sept. 13) from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at La Plaza Cultural on the SW corner of Ninth Street and Avenue C in the East Village.

There are other related events today held at other East Village community gardens.
