I watched this movie for the first time after discovering this podcast. Considering the data shows workers are more productive now, with less pay and benefits, this movie is very relevant, still.

These illustrations by Claude Shepperson are mentioned in the latest episode of the podcast. They accompanied the UK edition of HG Wells First Men in the Moon in 1901.

Blade Runner (1982) is a beautiful blend of Sci-Fi & Film Noir.

An ideal film for me to speak to Sergio from the Tipping My Fedora podcast about! @tippingmyfedora.bsky.social

We discuss dystopia, Deckard and Denis Villeneuve.

Oh nothing much. Just lil ol’ me, recording in my cupboard, being listed by a film aficionado as a top film podcast alongside a Golden Globe winner.

Tonight's 🎥: Sunset Boulevard (1950, dir. Billy Wilder). The best film about films ever made? Undoubtedly. One of the all-time great movies, stuffed with an embarrassment of riches, from the writing to performances to production design, cinematography and direction. Savage, melancholy, brilliant.

The 1965 French New Wave sci-fi 'Alphaville' by Jean-Luc Godard (also known as “A strange Adventure of Lemmy Caution”) was originally titled Tarzan vs IBM.

And I’m sad it isn’t called that any more. 😂

This is stunning. Listen to this in Philadelphia.

Thousands singing “Hey-Oh, we won’t be silent while our friends are gunned down.”

Really listen to it.

In this episode, guests offered a pairing for Dr Strangelove. My choice would be Fail Safe, but the star-studded 2000 remake. An absolutely nail-biting Cold War drama.

PS: Kubrick's 2001 was the other choice – the best film of all time imho. @everyscififilm.bsky.social #scifimovies #scififilms

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

"This film blew my mind at the age of 15 and I didn’t understand why. So I watched it 6 times over the next few months. The lighting, the mood, pacing and an all American..."
