States have the authority to tax wealth. They do that now through property taxes. The problem is that those taxes are often flat rather than progressive. Make them progressive!

Wealth inequality has set the stage for our current political condition. The billionaires stay in power by dividing the groups who might otherwise unite and oust them from power. The race baiting, xenophobia, homophobia, and faux religious pandering is all part of the strategy. We shall overcome.

Is it any wonder why so many feel abandoned by the system? People lose faith, and a demagogue fills the void.

There's case after case now where you get quick charges, almost certainly demanded from political appointees. Discovery producers evidence that rules out guilt. Prosecutors usually aren't willing to hide that evidence. Charges dismissed.
