By number produced, Lego is the largest tire manufacturer in the world.

Lego produces around 306 million tires every year, outpacing it's nearest competitors, Michelin and Bridgestone, by more than 100 million units. (Granted, they do tend to be a bit smaller.)

The first automobile race in the U.S. was held on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1895.

News reports about the race called the new-fangled vehicles "motocycles," (not motorcycles) or "horseless carriages" – the word "automobile" had not been invented yet.

A Swedish company, Corvid Cleaning, developed a machine that trained wild crows to pick up cigarette butts and other garbage in exchange for a food reward. Although the first set of crows were trained by humans, it was hoped that the crows would pass on the skill to other crows.

Scientists with NOAA Fisheries have found what they claim to be the "cutest, spikiest, tiniest crab in the world." They inadvertently captured the tiny king crab (Neolithodes agassizii) while they were taking coral samples in the Gulf of Mexico.

In spite of their name ("milli" = thousand; "pede" = feet) most millipedes don't have anywhere near that. Most have between 80-160 legs and until recently, no millipede had ever been recorded with more than 750 legs.

The tripod spiderfish (Bathypterois grallator) is a deepwater fish notable for having very long pectoral and caudal fins that it uses to stand on the sea floor like stilts. The fish itself is can be 30cm long, but the extended fins can be up to a meter long.

Commonly called the tailbone, the coccyx is the last bone at the end of your spine. It's typically comprised of three to five vertebrae fused together.

The bone takes its name from the Greek word for "cuckoo" based on its resemblance to a cuckoo's beak.

In Chicago in the 1920's there were several auto wash bowls where you could drive in a circle around a big bowl of water to clean the dirt off your car.
