We are seeking volunteer ASL Interpreters (or students working towards certification) to join monthly, virtual meetings and facilitate translation of spoken language (English) to American Sign Language and sign language to spoken language. Knowledge of marine mammal sciences is not required. (1)

Excited to hear all about the excellent #marinemammal #science happening thanks to the Marine Mammal Commission and the Marine Mammal Protection Act - which right now are tragically on the federal chopping block

The summary of @noaa.gov's #SpeciesInTheSpotlight Whale Health Assessment workshop is now available!
www.fisheries.noaa.gov/feature-stor...

It reviews new technologies, avenues of research, and long-term monitoring results that can help us protect these incredibly precious and threatened species.
Workshop Targets High-Tech Ways to Assess Endangered Whale Health
Advanced technology can give us more complete data on the health of endangered whale populations, which helps us figure out how to most effectively support their recovery.

Honored to have been a part of the collaborative #smartWhales initiative aiming to detect rare and critically endangered #rightwhales using #satellite imagery.

Check out our new paper showcasing our work with Hatfield Consultants, AltaML, University of New Brunswick & Canadian Wildlife Federation!

A devastating blow to #marinemammals, their ecosystems & anyone who enjoys/depends on the #ocean. My colleagues & I are distraught and will not stand idly by. Please join us in supporting marine #conservation in whatever way you can.

‼️The #whales need our help‼️

Later today, a US committee is meeting to review the #MarineMammal Protection Act - a leading reason #marinemammals can survive in a human-exploited ocean.

Contact your local representatives to support the #MMPA!

Just arrived in Granada, Spain for the first ever international #Drones and Un[crewed] Systems Conference! 🇪🇸🛸🐋

Excited to network and learn how we can advance #whale #research with this evolving #technology. #DAUS2025 #womenwhodrone

As a female #drone pilot & a huge proponent of gender-inclusive language, this is enraging and humiliating.

When referring to #drones as “UAVs”, please still avoid:
❌ unmanned aerial vehicles

Instead:
✅ unoccupied aerial vehicles
✅ uncrewed aerial vehicles

#womenwhodrone #drones #UAV #UAS
So after promising to focus on safety, they’ve gotten right down to work… on gender terminology?

2024 was the deadliest year for North Atlantic #rightwhales in the past 5 years.

What do we do now?

This week, the Canadian #Wildlife Federation has brought #scientists, #fishers, #managers & #nonprofits to the table to discuss the ongoing problem and brainstorm more solutions.
