RIP Jimmy Cliff. His music played a big part in my young adulthood. Still love his music and am sad to know his voice is now gone.
Jimmy Cliff, the Jamaican reggae singer who helped popularize the genre with songs like “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and “The Harder They Come,” died at 81 of pneumonia, his wife said. Read more about his life and legacy: nyti.ms/4pxqKao

Thanks for beating me to the punch! So so many times folks in vertebrate fields totally ignore findings from the 'lower organisms'. Let's value and respect the work across species!

v sad to hear Antonio García-Bellido's passing. his work on mitotic clones led to fundamental insights such as compartment boundaries, enabled post-embryonic analysis of lethals, and revealed autonomous vs non-autonomous effects of mutants. and founding father of Spanish DB and Drosophila schools.🪰
The European Drosophila Society #flyEDS extends the condolences on the passing of Antonio García-Bellido, considered the founder of the Spanish school of #Drosophila genetics and an influential figure in developmental biology research worldwide. May he rest in peace.
