So building on my previous post one might ask about the membership of the Republican Party as to their state of mind. Are they all traitors? Well unfortunately it’s complicated. It’s not dissimilar to what was asked about inhabitants of the Confederacy after the Civil War concluded.

Donald Trump is the fruit of the Republican Party. Blaming him for changing the Party is wishful thinking, naive, and dangerous in that it propagates the notion that the Rep Party is run by patriots. It is not.

The modern Republican Party has never been a good-faith governing party and Donald Trump is the fruit of that bad faith rather than the other way around. Ideas matter & the blatant denigration that the Republican Party has consistently leveled

As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated in 1933; “We can have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, but we cannot have both.”

Today, at a time of unprecedented income & wealth inequality, his words ring truer than ever.

A Senate deal that abandons health subsidies…

The US Congress is too generously insulated from the financial pressures that the rest of us have to endure so acting upon abstractions is too easily rationalized.

I will be changing my party affiliation from Democrat to Independent this morning.

The only thing Bari Weiss exposed in leaving the NYT is that she doesn’t have what it takes to be a contender. That’s what Larry Ellison found appealing about her, she’ll buckle under the right kind of pressure, so she’s not really any kind of threat to the oligarchy.

Maybe the most ironic thing about Trump’s disregard for our institutional norms is that it was respect for those very norms that shielded him and kept him out of prison.

The so called moderate republicans must think they can save the Republican Party from itself. They are mistaken. Maybe they know this. Maybe that’s why they’re holding on so tightly. They refuse to accept that this administration’s assault on our democracy is an assault upon them as well.
