Yeah, last week was a blow for the climate. Do we give up?

“Don’t be a quitter! Why are we giving up on the future of life on Earth so fucking easily? Where is our tenacity? Where is our fortitude? We can do hard things.”

Is There Still Time to Be Hopeful About the Climate?
Scientists have long insisted that we can and must limit global warming to 1.5 degrees—and some still do, even as that grim milestone nears.

I’m an NSF panel reviewer that was scheduled to meet today. Just got notice that all NSF panels were canceled today. I reviewed some innovative proposals in support of students. Devastating if these scholars don’t get to do this work. For the love of science & students I hope this is just a delay.💔

I’m gonna put this out here again! I like reviewing! 👋🏼
Now that I’m finally done with my PhD and had a little time to recover, I have a lot more time to review papers (which I actually enjoy!). So if you’re an editor and you’re looking for other reviewers for coral microbiomes, ecology, metagenomics, marine science, etc., add me to your list! 🪸🦠🧬

Hey #microbiome hive mind, what are your thoughts on CosmosID for metagenomics? Amplicon sequencing? Has anyone used this?

#HiSciSky 👋🏼, I’m a marine scientist and microbiologist working primarily in 🪸 coral reef ecosystems and doing lots of viral metagenomics and bioinformatics! I just received my PhD and soon I’ll be diving into bird virus research with USGS🦠
