Louisiana now uses partisan primaries for congressional elections and the primary cycle starts in September with the opening of petition gathering.

Democrats are only three seats from a majority, but right now, the battleground of competitive races is small and fairly evenly divided.

39 seats are currently competitive (rated Toss Up or Lean), with 29 more seats rated Likely GOP/Dem.
