Wednesday marks the 80th anniversary of the Trinity Test, the first ever human-controlled nuclear explosion.

On July 16, 1945, J. Robert Oppenheimer and a team of scientists detonated an atomic bomb on the Alamogordo Bombing Range in New Mexico as part of the Manhattan Project.

I was telling these kids the other day that they have to not just think about the implications of their work, but imagine the unintended implications. They wanted to know if Oppenheimer did.The answer?It’s complicated.. he experienced competing pressures.It’s hard to see clearly through wind and fog
