Almost a silver sheen to the #Thames this morning. Ice underfoot and a very peaceful calm to everyone walking to work. HNY #London.

I think I was excited to be promised we'd watch ELF after Christmas dinner.

If you want to feel you're in #CharlesDickens London, then watching the latest version of #AChristmasCarole in the atmosphere of Alexandra Palace is the place. Very well staged & Neil Morrissey excellent as Jacob Marley.

The drive from Strontian to Lochaline in Morven is stunning. Now at the Ionian Cross at Kreil Church, overlooking the Sound of Mull.

No highlands coo was injured (or decapitated) in the making of this hotel Christmas decoration.

Since Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his royal standard here at #Glenfinnan, on the shores of Loch Shiel in 1745, only two other pretenders have been more embarrassing: Ally McLeod 'We'll win it!' at the '78 World Cup; & David Steel's 'Go home and prepare for government!'. #Hubris

Walked from Kinlochleven in Lochaber to the top of the Devil's Staircase overlooking Glen Coe, and then back. Poured with rain but good fun.

Beginning to feel a lot like Christmas ...

Still one of my regular re-reads over Christmas. Characters are fascinating and the storyline surreal.

Two years since he sadly passed away. RIP Benjamin Zephaniah. A good man. Hugely enjoyed working with him on his memoir. What a life. Loved his cakes when signing copies, too. British culture is poorer without him.

Ah, this photo. My dad always wanted to take me winter fishing on nearby Loch Sunart on #Ardnamurchan. We never caught anything, EVER, but the penny dropped many years later that he simply wanted to share time.

The Tartan Army meeting ICE at #WorldCupUSA should make interesting viewing.
