Hivemind: I’m sharing an inquiry from a colleague.

Can you suggest readings about the attack on Middle East and South Asian Studies programs, post 9/11 and now? Or other readings related to the challenges confronting area studies programs and centers?

Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions!

It feels bad, frankly, to ask anyone to pay attention to this right now. But my book is out! www.ucpress.edu/books/values...

Proud to say it’s open-access. (But please recommend to your libraries!) If you read any of it, let it be the acknowledgements. None of this was possible without them.

What are your favorite books (or shorter texts) about Cádiz (or about Cádiz province)? I’m going to spend a week in Cádiz in June, and I’d like to bring some reading material!

I read this book initially just to better understand the place of al-Andalus in my Moroccan family’s imagination. But it was also very interesting to read about the feminist, Palestinian, and other takes that are important today, including musical!

What a thrill to see that my book, "On Earth or in Poems," has made it to bookstores in India. Thanks for sharing this picture, @gautambhatia88.bsky.social.
Did not expect to find a hard copy of @ericcalderwood.bsky.social’s brilliant book at Walking Bookfairs, Cuttack. A really nicely curated bookshop.

I didn’t watch the Grammys on Sunday, but I was thrilled to read that Doechii won a Grammy for “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” one of my favorite albums from 2024. If you haven’t checked out Doechii yet, you’re in for a treat. I recommend starting with her Tiny Desk Concert: youtu.be/-91vymvIH0c?...
