Good morning.

Today is the 80th day that the U.S. President is running a backdoor bribery scheme in which any CEO or foreign oligarch can send him money secretly through his crypto coin scam in exchange for favors.

It's the biggest scandal in the history of the Presidency.

I thought the Guilford CT #handsoff protest would be me and some aging hippies (which is why I showed up- I love aging hippies), but the ENTIRE town was there! On a 48 degree rainy day. I ❤️ you, Guilford!

From the “primary care joy” files:

Patient: I’m not worried, I had an autopsy a few years ago.

Me: 👀

Patient: BIOPSY!

~~~few second pause~~~
We both burst out laughing.
The shared moments of joy in medicine are the absolute best.
Here’s a story about the beauty of science, and how scientific discovery is not a linear process.
This is the most relevant article to NIH and research cuts I’ve seen.
Imagine if this was today , how many people would be saying “Why are we studying Gila Monsters and their impact on diabetes ? That’s wasted money !”
After hearing from two of my colleagues in Africa who work with USAID/PEPFAR, and the consequences already of recent events, I had to write this.
So sad. And so pointless! #IDSky
Could This Be the End of PEPFAR?
Short email from a longtime colleague, working in Africa at a PEPFAR site: Without USAID, PEPFAR is essentially dead. I got chills reading this. PEPFAR, the abbreviation for the President’s Emergency ...
Anecdote from this week:
Patient arrives with severe hypertension, ashamed that she’s been off her meds, almost didn’t show up to her appointment.
My nurse rooming her: “don’t worry! She’ll meet you where you’re at!”
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 for all the wonderful, patient-centered nurses out there!
I’m going to make this an account to focus on #patientcenteredcare and #harmreduction! (Because if I do any more #doomscrolling I will combust.)
Feeling extra ragey towards private #insurance companies today (more than baseline!) after an oxycodone denial… that was part of a TAPER! Do they realize they are forcing patients into #opioid withdrawal? do they care?
Improved #medicare4all now please.
Just a reminder that in 2019, RFK Jr.'s anti-vaccine misinformation campaign helped cause a measles outbreak in Samoa that killed 83 people, mostly kids.
Do you really want him to lead the Department of Health and Human Services?
