On 15 July 2009, Stephen Clinch landed in Salzburg, tired and confused, after jetting from Dublin to Sioux Falls, Minneapolis, back to Dublin, and finally, to Munich. He’d been buying equipment for hi...

I'm sitting on my couch in floods of tears watching Troy Parrott in floods of tears in his post-match interview on the pitch in Budapest #coybig 🇮🇪

What's more, they were in charge when this decision was made, and are in charge now - they sat in the meetings (or didn't), they gave their input, and now two days before the works start, it's all "this is terrible, it must be stopped".

Just rearguard action, posturing, and managed decline...
In Brussels, the socialists don't have a mobility policy or a public space policy, they have a parking policy.

Road safety? Pedestrian safety? Public transport? All subordinate to private parking spaces on public streets.

It's enough to make you extremely cynical about local party politics.

Six years ago the Sinterklaas parade in Gouda was maybe 80% full blackface. Now it’s 0%. The kids haven’t noticed and no-one cares.

Brussels is such an awesome city, but not in the obvious see-famous-things-you’ve-seen-on-the-telly way of say Paris or London. Instead it rewards in proportion to the effort you put in and your openness to turn up at things you don’t know much about. Then you find its gems, communities and scenes.

Looking for nature/animal-centric non-fiction book reccomendations for an 11 year old who’s not very confident in her English reading.

Is Diary of a Young Naturalist beyond that level, for example?
