As long as they can continue to play "divide and conquer" it will be hard to make progress. And getting people to see that, especially with Mainstream Media AND alt-right media putting their thumbs on the scales as hard as they can, it's a very uphill battle.

I think there's some validity to that point of view. It depends on how far you go with it-- the "tribes" are real, but it's billionaires and theocrats vs the rest of us, not GOP vs Dems, gays vs straight, or any of the other arbitrary delineations that get focused on in the "culture wars".

As a classical liberal I find both mobs tiresome. I'm tired memelords cropping graphs and data from studies they haven't fully read.
Then declaring "LOOK SCIENCE SAYS I'M RIGHT", As if science is this infallible truth instead a 'best-guess'. Everything can go wrong with a scientific study.
